Ammannitura – Bologna Plaster and Rabbit's Tail - Divolo Firenze

Ammannitura Divolo Firenze is a traditional preparation made of Bologna plaster and rabbit-skin glue, essential in the gilding technique for obtaining a suitable base for applying metallic leaf. It is also used in painting for preparing wooden or canvas supports, creating a homogeneous, compact, and resistant surface that improves paint adhesion and protects the support from aggressive agents present in pigments or binders.

Instructions for use
Heat the product in a double boiler, preventing the water from boiling, until a fluid consistency is obtained that allows application with a brush.
Apply while still warm in thin layers (5 or 6 coats may be necessary), allowing to dry between each coat.
Once the application is complete, sand with medium grit sandpaper (120–180) to remove imperfections and achieve a uniform base.
If you wish to dilute it, add small amounts of water during heating.
Clean the brushes with hot, soapy water immediately after use.
