Winsor & Newton Series 7 No. 8 in oak box — Kolinsky sable brush handmade in England
Special edition in an oak box containing one Series 7 No. 8 brush by Winsor & Newton, handmade in England with Kolinsky sable hair, of animal origin. It is not the individually sold Series 7 No. 8: it is a different item, a Series 7 No. 8 brush presented in a special-edition oak box.
What is it used for?
The Series 7 range is intended for watercolour:
- Fine detail, when the work calls for precision.
- Lines.
- Glazes in watercolour.
- Fluid, gestural strokes, thanks to the colour load held by the belly.
Why choose the Series 7 No. 8 in oak box?
- Material: like the whole Series 7 range, natural Kolinsky sable hair, a seamless nickel-plated ferrule and a polished black birch handle.
- Point and colour load: a fine point and a broad belly, for a greater colour load.
- Precision: in the Series 7 range, the point recovers its shape during use, with just the right elasticity to control the stroke, and the colour flows evenly from the tip.
- Manufacture: handmade in England; every Series 7 brush is inspected.
- A range with a history: the Series 7 range standard was set in 1866, commissioned by Queen Victoria.
Presentation and storage
- Presentation: 1 Series 7 No. 8 brush in a special-edition oak box.
- In the Series 7 range, the No. 8 has a 5.6 mm diameter ferrule and 27 mm of visible hair.
- Cleaning: remove the excess colour with a lint-free cloth, rinse under the tap and wash with cool or lukewarm water and mild soap, rolling the brush in the palm of your hand, until the water runs clear.
- Drying: squeeze out against a lint-free cloth, reshape the tip with your fingers and dry upright, with the hair pointing up. Store it only when completely dry.
- Reference: 5017008 · EAN (European barcode): 094376970494.
Brand: Winsor & Newton (Colart group).
The limits, stated plainly
- Never harsh soaps: they strip the natural oils from the hair. Wash with mild soap.
- Never hot water: it makes the paint coagulate and damages the brush. Wash with cool or lukewarm water.
- Do not store it damp: dry it upright, with the hair pointing up, until the ferrule and handle are dry; then store it.
