- Applying biocides or protective treatments on wooden supports.
- Applying glue or primer on supports.
- Dry cleaning the back of canvases and stretchers.
Why choose the Escoda Natural 8146 flat brush?
- Natural Chungking bristle, with the maximum stiffness on Escoda's scale (6 out of 6).
- Dimensions published for each size: width, thickness and length out.
- Escoda, a Sabadell (Barcelona) firm founded in 1933, states that it still makes its brushes using the traditional process.
Packaging and storage

- Storage: clean and dry, flat or hanging, without bending the bristles.

Where it should not be used
- It is a stiff bristle: do not pass it over fragile paint surfaces.
- Before first use with adhesive, pass it dry over a sheet of paper and remove any loose hairs.
- Escoda applies a factory sizing to the hair: wash it before first use.
Frequently asked questions
What does "sencilla carrada" mean?
"Sencilla" (single) is the thickness of the flat brush (Escoda also makes a double one), and "carrada" means the hair is cut straight (square-cut).
Which width should I choose?
No. 12 (24.6 mm) for small areas and edges; No. 24 (50 mm) for spreading adhesive or biocide over large surfaces.
Is it suitable for wheat starch paste and glues?
Yes, for spreading paste or glue in linings, paperings and canvas linings. Wash it as soon as you finish, before the adhesive dries in the bristles.
Does it shed hairs?
Before using it with adhesive, pass it dry and remove any loose hairs.
How do you clean it?
With water if the product applied is aqueous, or with its solvent if it is not, and always before it dries.
How does it differ from the CTS 522 pure bristle flat brush that we also stock?
Both are flat bristle brushes and are chosen by width: the 8146 flat brush is 24.6 or 50 mm and single-thickness; the CTS 522 ranges from 20 to 100 mm.
