Liquitex Professional Heavy Body Cadmium-Free Orange (892) — High-Viscosity Artist's Acrylic, Opaque with Excellent Lightfastness

Professional artist's acrylic of high viscosity and satin finish. Colour 892 is an opaque, cadmium-free yellowish orange, with high tinting strength and good coverage, formulated to reproduce the luminosity, coverage and intensity of traditional cadmium orange. Like the whole Heavy Body range, it has a dense consistency that holds the brushstroke and the palette-knife mark.

What is it used for?

  • Impasto and textures with brush or palette knife: the Heavy Body range is designed for working with body.
  • Alla prima painting and blending.
  • Collage and mixed media.
  • Supports the Heavy Body range is designed for: stretched canvas, paper and card, photographic paper, wood, fabric, glass, plaster and brick, clay and ceramic.

Why choose Liquitex Heavy Body Cadmium-Free Orange?

  • ASTM I lightfastness (American Society for Testing and Materials scale; I = excellent).
  • An opaque, cadmium-free orange, with high tinting strength and good coverage, formulated to reproduce the luminosity and intensity of traditional cadmium orange.
  • The highest viscosity of Liquitex paints: the Heavy Body range holds the clean brushstroke and the palette-knife mark, with a long open time.
  • High pigment concentration, typical of the Heavy Body range, with minimal colour shift between wet and dry.
  • Flexible, durable dry film: like the whole Heavy Body range, it does not yellow, resists ultraviolet (UV) rays and is water-resistant once dry.

Frequently asked questions

Does it cover like a cadmium orange?
It is an opaque yellowish orange, with high tinting strength and good coverage, formulated to reproduce the luminosity, coverage and intensity of traditional cadmium orange.
How lightfast is it?
ASTM I, that is, excellent on the American Society for Testing and Materials scale. For the Heavy Body range, a permanence of at least 50 years under gallery conditions is stated.
What finish does it leave?
Satin.
What is the difference between Heavy Body and Soft Body?
The consistency. Heavy Body has a higher viscosity and gives a different texture: it holds the brushstroke and the palette-knife mark. It is not recommended to turn one into the other with water or gel, because it can affect the intensity of the colour: choose the consistency from the start.
Can I dilute it with water so that it flows?
You can, but it may lose colour intensity. For fluid work, it is recommended to start from a paint of a more fluid consistency.
Which supports can it be used on?
The Heavy Body range is designed for stretched canvas, paper and card, photographic paper, wood, fabric, glass, plaster and brick, clay and ceramic.
What tools can it be worked with?
Besides brushes, the Heavy Body range can be worked with palette knives, combs and scrapers.
How should the jar be stored once opened?
Tightly closed, in a cool, ventilated place, out of direct sun and away from extreme temperatures. The shelf life of Liquitex acrylics is 5 to 7 years, tightly closed, at room temperature and uncontaminated.
