Liquitex Professional Heavy Body Acrylic — Payne's Grey (310), 946 ml Jar

Artist's acrylic paint of high viscosity, in the colour Payne's Grey (No. 310): a dark bluish grey, cool in tone and opaque. Heavy Body is Liquitex's highest-viscosity professional acrylic: its consistency holds the brushstroke and the palette-knife mark, and it dries to a satin finish. The colour takes its name from William Payne, an eighteenth-century watercolourist, who recommended it as an alternative to pure black.

What is it used for?

  • Impasto and textural work with brush or palette knife.
  • Alla prima painting.
  • Collage and mixed media.
  • The Heavy Body range is suitable for canvas mounted on stretcher bars, paper and card, photographic paper, wood, fabric, glass, plaster and brick, clay and ceramic, as long as the paint adheres to the support.

Why choose Liquitex Heavy Body Payne's Grey?

  • Opaque colour, with excellent lightfastness: grade I on the ASTM scale (American Society for Testing and Materials).
  • A mixture of three pigments, identified by their Colour Index code: PB29 (ultramarine blue), PBk9 (ivory black) and PV15 (violet pigment 15).
  • High viscosity and satin finish: it holds the brushstroke and the palette-knife mark.
  • The Heavy Body range uses ASTM grade I or II pigments, with a permanence of at least 50 years under gallery conditions. Some pigments in the range, such as the fluorescents, have no assigned grade.
  • Once dry, the Heavy Body film is flexible and durable, does not yellow and resists ultraviolet (UV) rays and water.
