Winsor & Newton Series 7 No. 9 in wooden box — handmade round Kolinsky sable brush
A short-handle round brush from the Winsor & Newton Series 7 range, in size No. 9, with natural Kolinsky sable hair. Watercolour brush handmade in England. The wooden box contains a single brush, a Series 7 No. 9.
What is it used for?
- Watercolour: fine detail, lines and glazes. The round shape of the Series 7 is intended for that work: the traditional round shape is recommended when precision and detail are needed.
- Retouching in Conservation-Restoration (C&R). A chapter of the AIC (American Institute for Conservation) conservation wiki describes Kolinsky sable watercolour rounds as excellent for retouching, and red sable as a snappy hair with a good point and a belly.
Why choose the Winsor & Newton Series 7 No. 9?
- Material: natural Kolinsky sable hair, polished black birch handle and nickel-plated ferrule, seamless and rustproof.
- Precision: Series 7 brushes form a sharp point and recover their shape during use, with just the right spring to control the stroke.
- Colour load: in the Series 7, colour flows evenly from the tip and the belly holds enough for fluid strokes.
- Manufacture: Series 7 brushes are handmade in England by Winsor & Newton craftspeople with more than 10 years of experience. The range’s standards were set in 1866, commissioned by Queen Victoria.
