Frequently asked questions
Is it the same as oil size, 3h or 12h?
No. Those are slow-drying oil sizes, for oil gilding (mordant) — a different technique from water gilding with burnishing.
Is it suitable for imitation gold?
Yes, it is compatible with both real gold leaf and imitation gold and silver variants.
Do I need Armenian bole to use it?
Yes, water size is applied over the previously laid and moistened bole — they are part of the same traditional gilding system.
