Lefranc Bourgeois primed canvas roll — 10 m² of fine 290 g/m² canvas for stretching your own canvases
A roll of primed canvas, 1 m wide × 10 m long (10 m²), for stretching yourself onto a stretcher. It is a fine canvas made from a blend of cotton (70%), polyester (26%) and cellulose (4%), 290 g/m². It comes primed, with a universal 3-coat ground; you paint on it once it has been stretched on the stretcher. Unlike a ready-stretched canvas, here the format is decided by whoever stretches it.
What is it used for?
- Stretching your own canvases onto stretchers, cutting the canvas to the format each work requires.
- Oil painting on the primed canvas, once stretched.
- Acrylic painting on the same support.

Before painting: what to bear in mind
- It is stretched before painting. The canvas arrives primed but loose, in a roll: it is mounted on the stretcher and painted on once stretched.
- The usable width is less than 1 m. When stretching, part of the canvas is folded over the edge of the stretcher and fixed at the back. If the short side of the canvas approaches one metre, allow for that margin before choosing the stretcher.
