Resinous varnish composed of a solution of natural Dammar Gum diluted in essences. Dries quickly and provides a transparent, glossy film. It is the traditional natural resin varnish used in oil painting and for retouching.
Why choose this varnish?
- Natural dammar resin: the classic varnish.
- Transparent and glossy.
- Its gloss can be reduced by diluting it with essences.
Uses and applications
Traditional varnishing and retouching of oil paintings. Apply to dry work with a soft, wide flat brush; can be diluted with Turpentine or Odorless Mineral Spirits to reduce the gloss of the dry film. Choose the format from the dropdown menu.
Technical note
Dammar resin is a traditional natural varnish: it tends to yellow over time, so it is not the option for permanent protection according to modern museum criteria (which prefer low molecular weight resins such as Laropal or Regalrez). Recommended as a traditional and retouching varnish.
⚠️ Safety
Flammable product (contains essences). Apply in well-ventilated areas, away from heat and flame. Keep out of reach of children.
