Aquazol® (poly(2-ethyl-2-oxazoline)) is a thermoplastic resin that is soluble in water and polar organic solvents, highly valued in conservation-restoration for its high reversibility, stability against aging, and non-yellowing properties. Original product from Kremer Pigmente.

Why choose Aquazol?

  • Reversible and soluble in water and polar solvents (ethanol, acetone).
  • Stable and non-yellowing: suitable for long-term conservation treatments.
  • Versatile: consolidant, adhesive, and retouching medium depending on concentration.
  • Compatible with other conservation materials.

Available Grades

  • Aquazol 50: low molecular weight and low viscosity — penetration and consolidation.
  • Aquazol 200: medium molecular weight — general use and adhesion.
  • Aquazol 500: high molecular weight — greater adhesive power and film formation.

Uses and Applications

  • Consolidation of polychromies, stuccoes, and supports.
  • Reversible adhesive for fixing layers.
  • Binding medium for chromatic reintegration.
  • Fixing and setting color on paper, wood, or canvas works.
