MIR Special Oils — Poppyseed, Walnut, and Stand Oil

High-quality drying oils for oil painting. Each offers different drying, gloss, and yellowing properties, allowing you to adjust your paint's behavior. All can be diluted with MIR Turpentine Essence or Odorless Petroleum Essence.

Why choose these oils?

• Poppyseed: low in linoleic acid, reduces yellowing; ideal for whites and light tones (slower drying).
• Bleached Walnut: cold-pressed, non-yellowing; perfect for light tones.
• Stand Oil: polymerized linseed, dense; dries faster forming a hard, glossy film, ideal for glazes and yellows less.

Uses and Applications

Bind pigments and modify oil paint (gloss, fluidity, drying). Choose the type of oil from the dropdown depending on whether you need less yellowing (Poppyseed/Walnut) or more gloss and hardness for glazes (Stand Oil).

⚠️ Safety

Rags impregnated with drying oil can spontaneously combust: spread them out to dry or store them in a closed metal container. Keep out of reach of children.
