Lascaux 303 HV: Acrylic contact adhesive for lining

Lascaux Acrylic Adhesive 303 HV is a thermoplastic acrylic resin in aqueous dispersion, composed of butyl acrylate and methyl methacrylate thickened with acrylic butyl ester. It is an extremely elastic contact adhesive with excellent aging behavior, widely used in the lining of paintings and textiles. It is manufactured as a substitute for Lascaux 360 HV, discontinued in 2012.

Properties and advantages

Its very low Tg (approx. -28 °C) and very high elasticity make 303 HV a contact adhesive that accommodates the movements of the support without becoming brittle, making it ideal for lining and relining. The dry film remains slightly tacky, behaving as a low-force pressure-sensitive adhesive, and is reversible by heat or solvent, maintaining the reversibility criterion. It is insoluble in water, white spirit, and ligroin once dry.

How to use

The dispersion is applied to the reinforcing support and allowed to dry; the bond is made by contact, reactivating the film by pressure, heat (minimum sealing temp. approx. 50 °C), or solvent depending on the technique. Before drying, it can be diluted with water.
